Cozy Cafe in Ankeny

Very poor quality of food. Got very rude young girl. Went in today to get a muffin. Then went to eat the muffin the muffin was moldy. When I went to return it I was greeted by the same very rude young girl. Who didn't apologize to me when I pointed out the mold in the muffin in fact just chucked money at me and said here's your money back. Which wasn't even the correct amount. I have never been treated like this anywhere. Quality of food is horrible. The way I was treated as a customer was ever worse. I definitely do not recommend anyone this place.

Exceptional service and reasonably priced breakfast options with great daily specials. Close to our home and super coffee. Nice that they will provide a cup of coffee to go on request.

We have both dined in and carried out this week...a busy week for us. Service was amazing! Roxi was our waitress...she was wonderful. The food was absolutely delicious! We took our 10 & 13yr old...they gave it two thumbs up. Our carryout order was as tasty. So glad Cozy moved in ☺

The floor could have been swept and it the windows seem like they haven't been cleaned along with the bathrooms but the quality of the food makes up for the lack of cleanliness. Would recommend if you dont mind it a little dirty

We have tried twice to come here for dinner, around the 6pm-ish time, and twice they've been closed. That last time being today, March 5th. We're done, not going to try anymore. If you can't be open, you seriously need to consider shutting down. We'll go to Perkins or I-Hop, at least they're open!

First time there. Had to seat myself but took a bit to get served. Breakfast was great. I would go back.

We just had their Cozy Cavatelli Sunday special - 2 for 1. Absolutely delicious and a terrific bargain. Love this place!!

Second time trying to eat here and have never actually eaten here. First time we ordered right away at breakfast and took 45 minutes to get our food. They served our food to the wrong table and realized the mistake and the people started eating the food then the waitress took it from them and served it to us. So we left. That was a few months ago so we thought we would try again. This time we walked in an hour before they closed. We went to sit down and they told us that side was closed. So we sat at another table. We got our drinks and waited 20 minutes to place our order but all the employees were worried about was closing down. So we left. Too bad they don't want business...

Their chicken fried steak and eggs is one of my favorite meals

Being an out of towner I have been here a couple times now. Good food, great service, cozy setting. Lives up to their name. Recommended for breakfast.

Had breakfast there today for the first time. Food was delicious! Staff were friendly and attentive. Place was full but food arrived quickly! Loved it. Already planning the next visit.

Comfortable atmosphere and great service! Scrambled eggs were a tad hard but it was all pretty tasty otherwise. Definitely will be coming back.

It was pretty good. There appeared to be only one waiter and it was just busy enough that he was hopping. I ordered the meatloaf and honestly, it wasn't very hot, like it might have been sitting for a while. But other than that, it was good

My favorite is the Cozy Mess with Gravy. It it is a mountain of sin on a plate, but it's delicious...

Fast friendly service and great food!!

Just finished the meat loaf club and was absolutely blown away! This place has incredible presentation, taste, and service! Definitely one of the better meals I've had in Ankeny.

We tried this place for the first time a few weeks ago. The food is good and reasonably priced, and the service was excellent. They also allowed us to substitute green beans for the standard sides in their kids meal selections, which took some of the guilt out of eating out with our toddler. We will definitely be re-visiting this location!

Food is good. Breakfast all day. One of the more reasonable prices restaurants around!

Really want to like this place, but the last 2 visits have been less then good. On one visit an omelet was ordered that had onions in it. Specifically ask that no onions be in it. Came with at least a half of onion chopped in it.Last experience we ask for Managers special that was on the board posted at the door. Omelet w/Italian sausage and hashbrowns and I ordered a half order of cavettili with meatballs.When our order arrived it was a hamburger (which was hardly edible) and fries. My cavettili was warm at best with about a teaspoon of sause and one meatball cut in qrtrs. The waitress corrected the Managers special and after asking twice for more sauce for cavettili we will not go back.

We had a delightful family meal at the Cozy Cafe in Ankeny. The food was great, as was the service. We will return often, thank you.

Comfort food at a $10 price tag. Clean place and friendly staff makes it worth going to this place great. The food is not processed and is better quility than ihop and perkins.

Finally, a great diner in Ankeny. Amazing breakfast, huge pancakes, and friendly staff.

Food is good. Service is not. I wanted to add to my order but i never saw the waitress until i was finished. Happens everytime i go.

Food was great as usual.Wish the younger wait staff would learn service. Don't wait until I am almost done eating to ask if everything was OK. Have to commend the cook as the food was outstanding, actually had fries that we're crispy but not burned. BRAVO!!!!

Good food after it arrived to the table 45 min later..used a groupon and it was a huge deal to redeem it because they place had no wifi and sprint had no coverage.

Took 10 min to get a coke and a water and until she happened to turn around from talking to the other waitress forgot our drinks.. Waited 40 min to get 2 burgers and fries and a side salad, never got the salad. There was 2 waitresses and random other people working. There were 2 tables mine and another one at lunch time and still took that long . They never came back to check on us other than to bring us the bill that I had to ask for, they were to busy gossiping...

Love this place! We eat here every Saturday for breakfast. Hands down the best breakfast place to go. Service is great and veteran staff keep it running smoothly.

Great service! We were met at the door and told to sit wherever we liked. We chose a booth and a waistress soon appeared to ask what we wanted to drink. She soon returned with our drinks and took our order. I spied a gentleman with a tenderloin next to us and asked the waitress (Jenna)if tenderloin had cracker breading and she said yes. The tenderloins were the best and the onion rings (thin and crunchy) were very good. We'll be back, maybe on Weds. Weds is free pie day.Very friendly staff. Oh my!! Look at those tenderloins!!

Cozy Café is a diner style eatery with a handful of locations around town.They offer everything from breakfast items, to lunch, and supper. Eggs, pancakes, salads, pasta, burgers, meatloaf, etc. Everything you would find in a typical diner.I had the boring “house specialty salad” that consisted of iceberg lettuce, roasted red peppers, olives, mushrooms, and diced tomatoes. It was a decent sized serving, but the roasted red peppers were limp and didn’t seem roasted. The olives and mushroom slices obviously came from a can or a jar. Everyone else at the table seemed satisfied with their pork tenderloin sandwiches and other items. The service was just “OK”, but it could have been better. They have plenty of great breakfast items, lunch, and supper items. Everyone else enjoyed their food but I would recommend skipping the salad options.

Heavenly aroma. Everything must be delicious. Old style cafe with mouth watering food! Hot tea us made the right way with loose leaf tea bagged per order! Shown here is one of the biscuits and gravy breakfasts.

We have visited several times now and can say all our meals have been wonderful. We tried breakfast twice and dinner twice. Have tried a variety of different foods and are very pleased. We will be returning often. And love all the specials that they offer especially the kids eat free and early morning breakfast special.

Stopped by for breakfast. I got an omelette and cinnamon roll. The food was decent, but not the best I've had. It's worth at least checking out.

Wife and I tried this for our first time today. Not impressed with our server. She wasn't overly friendly, and not particularly attentive. I ordered the "Cozy Mess" with wheat toast, eggs over hard, and coated in sausage gravy. When she brought it out there was no gravy, and the eggs were over easy. She noticed the gravy was missing and brought me some on the side, so no big deal there. I didn't bother pointing out the egg mistake as I didn't want to make a big deal of it.Had to ask for a refill. I put my empty glass at the end of the table to make it kind of obvious but she didn't ask so we had to ask ourselves when she came over late in our meal to ask if our food was good.She brought us the ticket and told us she'd be right back for it (no rush she said). Put my card out and we waited 10-15 minutes and she never came for it so we had to check out up front.The food was OK. Not great, but OK. The service was pretty poor. Don't think I'll be going back.

Best omelette in town! Fast service, waitress was pleasant, and came back frequently to check on us and refill our coffee. I will be back!!

We had a terrible meal and service at Cozy Cafe. Waited 35 minutes to get two burgers and an appetizer of onion rings. There was only 5 tables of people in the entire restaurant. The appetizer was served with the meal. Fries were semi-cold and the burger was dry and tasted like it had been sitting awhile. The excuse was that the waitress was new, so I don't blame her entirely. I think the cook must have been new too. There were 3 waitresses serving 5 tables of customers. My biggest regret is that we didn't get up and leave after 30 minutes. There are many restaurants in Ankeny to choose from, we won't be back to Cozy Cafe.

Decided to bring my mom tonight. She's pretty picky but thought the food was great. I always do as well. There was an incredibly cute blonde in her early forties who waited on us. She was very friendly and seemed to be having a good time even though they were crazy busy. Haven't been disappointed yet going here.

Kind of disappointed tonight. I love the breakfasts but thought we would call in an order for take out tonight. Time 642. Was told is would be ready in 10 to 15 minutes. We walked out 30 minutes later with our food. We were apoligized to for the delay, but nothing was offered for the i convenience. I am pretty sure they did not even start cooking our food until after we had arrived and I only live across the street so it only took us a couple minutes to walk across the street. In addition the burger that I got was so well done it was almost past being able to eat it. But I did because I don't like to waste food.

Eh, not bad if you don't mind truck stop style processed food. However it did seem to be a pleasant nook for socializing locally.
